COMFORT ZONE

Dan’s debut musical release was his EP Comfort Zone, consisting of six self-penned reflections on life which were independently recorded and produced in 2007 by James North Productions.

Having grown up in rural North Queensland before relocating south to the state capital of Brisbane, this acoustic folk/rock collection looks upon lessons learnt during his country-to-city transition in his early 20’s.

From the harrowing story of I Don’t Smoke thanks to a chance encounter on inner-city streets, through to a missed opportunity for love as told in More Than I Can Handle and onto the coming-of-age title track, Comfort Zone paved the way for Dan’s ongoing musical journey and future worldly travels.

About Dan

Acoustic storyteller Dan Schaumann returns with his latest musical release, I Wish I Lived In Canada, available now on all major streaming platforms.

Having cut his musical teeth on the sidewalks and bars of Townsville and Brisbane, Dan followed his heart to the UK and later to Canada where he’s resided since 2013.

From lost love to found feet, toppled dreams to open doors, Dan’s attitude to life is as infectious as the songs he draws from it. His artistic creations speak of an extraordinary journey into the experiences of a contemporary traveler.

The title track is an homage and a love song to this beautiful country I've been living in for over 7 years, which I wrote six months before I moved here; the other two tracks are acoustic storytelling songs I’m really proud of, inspired by my travels and my youth. Please give it a spin and share / follow / tell your friends / add the songs to your playlists! I hope you enjoy them.

I’m very happy to announce my new 3-track EP, I I’m very happy to announce my new 3-track EP, I Wish I Lived In Canada, is scheduled for release on December 1st! You’ll be able to hear it on all the usual streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

I wrote the title track back in 2013, about six months before I left Australia while I was feeling wanderlust for my upcoming adventure. It’s both an homage and a love song to this diverse & welcoming country I’ve called my home for the past 7-and-a-bit years. I’ve been humbled by encouraging feedback whenever I’ve played it to friends or at open mic nights so this year I finally decided to professionally record it - I think it’s turned out wonderfully thanks to a very talented team of musicians & producers. And how amazing is this cover art that @lixnorth put together?!

I’ll talk more about the other two tracks “Phrasebook” and “Butane” later in the week but for now I’m just excited to spread word of the release. Set your calendar reminders to give it a spin this time next week!
A couple of nice things happened today, I finally A couple of nice things happened today, I finally got a response from the immigration department saying they’ve received my Canadian citizenship application (not a huge feat in itself but I’ve been waiting for their acknowledgement since December!) and I wrapped up my time at @mhstudiosto. It’s kinda poetic because the whole reason for going to the studio in the first place was to record my song, I Wish I Lived In Canada. Anyway here’s a little snippet of another tune that’ll be on my upcoming EP, this is a from a storytelling song I wrote a few years back called Phrasebook. All going well the EP should be ready next month some time - I’ll share a bit more about it in the coming weeks but in the meantime please go follow me on Spotify so you don’t miss the release!

I have a handful of creations to lay down for an EP: one song each about Canada, Japan and Australia. All going well it should be ready to spin by the end of the year. Stay tuned!
