Dreams About Pencils

Yesterday while browsing through my phone, I came across a note I had written three nights ago in a state of semi-consciousness which I had completely forgotten about!

It was of a dream I had; there was no memory of any images or vision, merely only four lines of dialogue. I woke up at 5:17am straight after having this dream and wrote the dialogue into my phone, as I thought it was bizzarely interesting and I wanted to remember and analyze it later. The dialogue was as follows:

The number 93 pencil said, “Who’s pencil are you?”
“I’m the number 95 pencil.”
“Are you sure you’re not the number 94 pencil?”
“No. I’m the number 95 pencil.”

How strange…?

I see a number of symbolic representations there… writing, numbers, lack of trust, stubbornness, questioning. I also checked an online dream dictionary which states the following:

To see a pencil in your dream, indicates that you are making a temporary impact in a situation. It may also suggest that a relationship may not last long. Dreaming of a pencil may also suggest that you need to be more flexible in your way of thinking. Listen to what others have to say; don’t be so quick to reject their views and opinions.

I can see how all this has meaning in my life right now. It’s so interesting how a seemingly random, nonsensical piece of dialogue that my brain came up with in a state of hypnagogia can create so much symbolism and wonderment.

And I also think more people should share their strange dreams!
